Das London Mandolin Ensemble wurde 2012 gegr\u00fcndet. Bereits in den fr\u00fchen 1970er Jahren hatte es ein London Mandolin Ensemble gegeben, in den letzten Jahren gabe es allerdings nur wenige zupfmusikalische Aktivit\u00e4ten im Raum London.<\/p>\n

London Mandolin Ensemble is\u00a0a small chamber orchestra of around a dozen musicians and conductor. Our members are keen plucked string players from London and the surrounding areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are\u00a0pleased\u00a0to have\u00a0revived, in name at least,\u00a0the original London Mandolin Ensemble,
\nwhich first\u00a0met in Petit France and then\u00a0Pimlico, London, in the early 1970s.\u00a0Members of\u00a0this group included Paul Marquis, who studied and worked\u00a0with virtuoso mandolinist Hugo D’Alton at\u00a0the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden,\u00a0and the\u00a0British composer Eileen Packenham.<\/p>\n

Our repertoire covers a wide range of classical music, from early music\u00a0to contemporary works.\u00a0Instrumentation is based on the Romantic quartet tradition of mandolin 1, mandolin 2, octave mandola and guitar.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Am Dienstag besuchten wir die Probe des London Mandolin Ensemble. Geprobt wurde das Mandolinenkonzert von Hasse, der Kanon von Pachelbl und zuletzt ein St\u00fcck von Eileen Packenham mit vielen chromatischen L\u00e4ufen. Die Probe wurde von Travis Finch geleitet, der bei Alison Stephens studiert hat. Er leitet auch einen regelm\u00e4\u00dfigen Workshop f\u00fcr Mandoline der abwechselnd zu den Proben des Ensembles stattfindet.<\/p>\n
