Folk

Dalla @ Lorient Festival 2009 / Festival Interceltique de Lorient 2009 (King of Sweden)

Cornish traditional music played by Dalla at the additional „Nos Lowen“ event hosted by Asturia … fine food and well-poured cider too – cheers, 😀

The dance – Mr Martin’s Reel (collected by Mr Hedley Martin in a place called Morval, near Looe) – is well known across Cornwall, and was danced at family parties, usually in a kitchen on the slate slabs. Young people would travel from farm to farm during the festive seasons, drink cider, socialise and perform such dances as this by way of entertainment. Often the dance was done in fairly heavy clogs with iron scoots, like horseshoes, on the bottom to increase the noise of step dancing.

Great tune for a „Cornsiche“, the equivalent of a „Schottische“ dance …

Klezmer

In Memoriam – Jewish Music from Holocaust – Yiddish Tango

IN MEMORIAM is a special concert in honor of Holocaust remembrance, debuted in Teatro Luciano Pavarotti in Modena, Jan 26, 2008; created by israeli ensemble Meitar and mandolinist Avi Avital. In this video: „Yiddish Tango“: Gilad Harel – clarinet, Jonathan Keren – violin and arrangement, Avi Avital – mandolin, Luca Bacelli – cello, Amit Dolberg – Piano. checkout www.meitar.net, www.aviavital.com, www.giladharel.com, www.jonathankeren.com

Bluegrass / Blues

Rio De Janiero Blues – Gail Wade, Peg Harvey, & Rob Rainwater w/ Dan Menzone, Emory Lester
