Gitarre und Cello zusammen sind selten zu hören. Eines der wenigen Duos mit diesen beiden Instrumenten ist das Richter Uzur Duo.

Brad Richter (Gitarre ) und Viktor Uzur (Cello) haben sich 2005 zu diesem Duo zusammen gefunden. Viktor Uzur ist Professor für Violoncello an der Weber State University in Ogden im US-Bundesstaat Utah. Brad Richter ist bekannt als vielseitiger Gitarrist, Komponist und Lehrer für Gitarre. Beide Musiker waren neben ihrer klassischen Ausbildung auch in Rock Bands aktiv. Das wirkt sich auch auf das Repertoir des Duos aus, das überwiegend aus eigenen Kompositionen und Bearbeitungen besteht.
Das Programm des Richter Uzur Duos ist eine tolle und aufregende Mischung aus Klassik, Folk, Pop und Rock. Griechische Folklore mischt sich mit dem Hummelflug von Rimsky-Korsakow, die Leyenda von Albeniz wird gemischt mit Superstition von Stevie Wonder und Jungle Boogie von Kool and the Gang. Melodien von Led Zeppelin sind Grundlage des Duo Concerto for Cello, Guitar, and Orchestra. Eher klassisch wirkt die Interpretation der Bohemian Rhapsody mit der meine Playliste beginnt.

The Richter Uzur Duo plays a whimsical mashed-up blend of classical, world, and rock music. Viktor Uzur and Brad Richter are each master musicians of the highest caliber with global solo careers, major international awards and intensive training from two of the world’s most lauded musical institutions (The Moscow Conservatory and The Royal College of Music respectively). While developing into classical virtuosi as students, Brad and Viktor cut their teeth in rock bands – Viktor as an electric guitarist and Brad as a guitarist and singer. They also delved into folk and world music, eventually setting those interests aside to pursue their classical concert careers. Since the “RUDuo” was founded in 2005 they have discovered a way to blend all of the musical styles they love and audiences have as much fun listening to the results as Brad and Viktor have playing.
